Question from Nazia:
Hi. My brothers wedding is in July and I am looking for someone anyone that carves fruits and veggies as a large centerpiece instead of flowers and I think it would look perfect for a summer wedding. I have searched high and low and I know that my brother and his wife to be would love to have this but I am running into dead ends. If you could help me out that would be much appreciated. I am looking in the Vancouver area. Thanks for you time.
Answer from Wedding Expert Angela:
Hi Nazia. Cutting fruit and vegetables into arrangements is something that is learned in culinary schools. I suggest you call your local culinary (cooking) schools to see if someone there would do it. If that doesn’t work, any upscale hotel that has a chef will have people there who could do it. Part of becoming a chef is learning how to present food in interesting ways, and they can create ice sculptures, and fruit and vegetable displays without any problem. Some catering companies might also have someone who has this skill. I suggest you phone around starting with the culinary schools in your area, followed by catering companies, and then hotels. When calling a hotel, ask to speak to the catering manager or the chef.
Good luck. I’m sure you will find someone.
