What Is The Wedding Gift Etiquette For An Encore Wedding? – Ask The Wedding Expert Answer
Question from Donna:
My daughter is getting married for the 2nd time. Her fiance has never been married. They have chosen to marry privately (just the two of them). The question she is asking me is if she should register in case someone would like to get them a gift. They will be sending wedding announcements after their honeymoon. There is no celebration planned when they return.
Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:
Hi Donna. Yes, your daughter can register with a bridal registry or two. Because it is considered poor etiquette to tell people where you are registered, usually the immediate family is informed, and family and friends will ask them if they want to get a gift–or they will call the couple directly to ask them if they are registered.
Your daughter and her husband can also make a list of things that they would like, and leave it with the immediate family. This kind of list could include gift certificates for movies, restaurants, the planetarium, comedy club, or any other place that gives gift certificates that they like. One encore couple just told people that a gift certificate would be a perfect gift. They got so many places to go and things to do that they were out weekly for over a year—the most unexpected thing they really enjoyed was a gift certificate for go-cart racing!
Enjoy!
